Based in Tulsa, OK, MLVS Photography is a unique studio specializing in the art of documentary wedding, dance and portrait photography.
If it's a wedding photographer you need, we spend that once-in-a-lifetime day with you, considering it a privilege to freeze time for you in a way that is unique and unforgettable. From hair and make-up being fixed just right and tuxes and gowns being taken off the hangers, to the “I Do’s” and the cutting of the cake, we are there capturing those little moments that will collectively make it a day you will forever cherish. And when it’s all said and done and you’re back from the relaxing honeymoon, your photographer will personally sit down with you to help you choose and edit those photographs you feel best represent the magic, emotion, and excitement of your wedding day. To make this a fun and relaxing experience is really the goal.
If it is a dance photographer you need, we do much more than the typical "point your foot and smile" photographs. We come directly to your studio, workshop, or performance venue to capture the actual dance in motion. Whether it be to provide your company with promotional or documentary materials, for advertisements or enjoyment, MLVS Photography is dedicated to translating the grace, energy, and emotion of dance into high quality timeless photographs.
A ballet and modern dancer for more than twenty years, owner and head photographer Maranda Van Straten received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Belhaven College in 2002. She was a founding member of Tulsa Contemporary Dance Theatre during their debut season in 2004, where she performed, choreographed, and
photographed for the company. Maranda has also shot for professional dance companies such as Polarity Dance Co., Living Water Dance Co., the Belhaven College Dance Ensemble, and is currently photographing for Texas Woman's University's Department of Dance. A series of her dance portraits was featured in The
Creative Spirit Magazine, and was recently recognized by the International Society of Photographers.
MLVS Photography also specializes in child, senior, and family portraits, samples of which can be seen here as well.
